Kipeo Impact Build

One useful digital project, built to support meaningful work.

Kipeo Digital invites applications from organisations and purpose-led initiatives that need a practical website, platform or small operational system. One suitable application may be selected for a clearly scoped project with Kipeo’s development fee waived.

Third-party costs remain separate. Selection is based on suitability — not chance.

Why it exists

Digital capability should help useful ideas move forward.

Some organisations have a genuine operational or community need but cannot currently fund a professionally developed digital solution. The Kipeo Impact Build reserves part of our development capacity for one project where thoughtful technology could make a practical difference.

What may be built

Applications may be considered for a focused, achievable project.

  • A focused organisational website
  • A business or service website of up to five core pages
  • An information or campaign platform
  • A focused landing page
  • Redesign of an existing small website
  • A small operational workflow
  • A proof of concept for a useful digital product

The final solution and scope depend on the applicant’s needs, Kipeo’s capabilities and what can be delivered responsibly through the initiative. The Impact Build does not fund a large custom application, unlimited functionality, a large e-commerce catalogue, a complete enterprise system, unlimited integrations, or ongoing development.

What is included

Depending on the agreed scope, the selected project may include:

  • Discovery and requirements definition
  • Information architecture
  • UI/UX design
  • Responsive development
  • Content-management setup
  • Accessibility foundations
  • Technical SEO foundations
  • Analytics setup
  • Deployment support
  • Practical documentation
  • Handover
  • 30 days of defect support after launch

Not every item applies to every project — the agreed scope determines what is actually delivered.

What remains separate

Kipeo’s development fee for the final agreed scope will be waived. The recipient remains responsible for approved third-party expenses.

Commonly separate items include:

  • Domain registration
  • Hosting
  • Premium licences
  • Payment-provider fees
  • Professional photography
  • Extensive copywriting
  • Advertising expenditure
  • Large-scale data entry
  • Large product-catalogue population
  • Ongoing maintenance after the support period
  • Work outside the agreed scope

No third-party cost may be incurred without the recipient’s prior written approval. The complete project is not universally “free” without this qualification.

Eligible applicants

  • Nonprofit organisations

Selection criteria

Applications are assessed against these criteria.

  • Clarity of the problem

  • Alignment with Kipeo's capabilities
  • Achievable scope
  • Applicant readiness

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the Kipeo Impact Build?

An annual initiative through which Kipeo Digital may select one suitable organisation or purpose-led initiative for a clearly scoped digital project with Kipeo's development fee waived.

Is the entire project free?

Kipeo's development fee for the final agreed scope is waived. The recipient remains responsible for approved third-party expenses such as domain registration, hosting or premium licences.

What kinds of projects are eligible?

Focused websites, small operational workflows and proofs of concept are typical. The final solution depends on the applicant's needs, Kipeo's capabilities and what can be delivered responsibly through the initiative.

Who may apply?

Nonprofits, community organisations, social-impact initiatives, early-stage purpose-led organisations and individuals developing a clearly defined public-benefit initiative.

How is the project selected?

Applications are assessed against published criteria, including problem clarity, potential impact, digital suitability, achievable scope and applicant readiness.

Does applying guarantee selection?

No. Selection is based on suitability and potential practical impact, not chance, and Kipeo may choose not to select a project if no application is suitable, sufficiently prepared or responsibly deliverable.

What costs remain separate?

Items such as domain registration, hosting, premium licences, payment-provider fees, professional photography and ongoing maintenance after the support period remain the recipient's responsibility. No third-party cost is incurred without prior written approval.

Can an existing Kipeo client apply?

The Impact Build is intended for organisations that need a project but do not currently have the resources to commission one commercially. Ordinary commercial projects should be raised through the regular Contact form.

What happens after selection?

Responsibilities, deliverables, third-party costs, timeline and content requirements are agreed in writing. No project exists, and development does not begin, until that written Impact Build agreement is accepted.

Will applicant information be published?

No. Kipeo does not publicly identify applicants or the selected recipient without separate written consent.
